Exercise and Your Tween

Just getting through the work day, the school day, and other obligations can leave you and your teenage kids feeling pressed for time. Are you both finding it hard to fit in fitness? According to the U.S. National Association for Sport and Physical Education, children should accumulate at least 60 minutes, and up to several hours, of age-appropriate physical activity on all or most days of the week. Getting your child to enjoy exercise and movement doesn’t have to be a fancy or expensive proposition.

Back to School May Mean Back to Fitness for Adults

It’s back to school time for kids, and back to routine for parents! Summer is fun, but most parents agree it’s good to get their kids back in school and get back to more of a regular daily routine. Even for individuals with no children at home, the coming of Autumn and all that goes with it, makes us all feel like it’s time to get things in order, tighten up the daily schedule and get back into a more regular routine.

That makes this the perfect time to evaluate any damage to your fitness level over the summer, and resuscitate your fitness regime! Coordinating kids’ summer activities, attending backyard barbeques, days at the beach and road trips that encourage bad eating habits, all make it easy to miss a few workouts or stop working out altogether and pack on a few extra pounds.
